What Is Vacant Land?
Vacant land insurance is a liability policy for property with no structures on it. It covers you if someone is hurt on your land — a hunter, a hiker, a trespasser, the neighbor kid on a dirt bike — and pays to defend you if they sue. It is inexpensive, and it is the one policy people forget they need until the letter from the attorney arrives.
Why Vacant Land Matters
Owning land makes you responsible for what happens on it, whether you gave permission or not. A homeowners policy covers the lot your house sits on and, usually, nothing else.
